CNC modeling and mould production
We use CNC machines to make mould and models using materials such as plastic composites, poliester tooling paste, ESP and polyurethane foams.CNC machines used are KUKA based robot manipulators that are mostly used for large parts while smaller plugs and moulds are 3D printed using ABS or PLA plastics.
Standard mould production is done in three phases:
CNC MATERIAL MODELING
CAD 3D model is made using CNC machine where its construction is made in three parts: metal construction, EPS foam and Tooling poliester paste. Metal construction provides needed structural integrity and fills most of the part volume. EPS foam is placed on metal construction and CNC milled to certain offset that leaves space for composite reinforcement that provides additional mechanical and thermal integrity whole model.Lastly, CNC tooling paste is sprayed on composite layer and it represents final layer of the whole model. Paste is milled to mach CAD drawing using specialized milling tools.
MODEL FINISHING
After CNC Tooling Paste has been milled, whole model is sanded and polished. This phase ensures high gloss model surface finish.
MOULD PRODUCTION
Vinilester gelcoat is sprayed on top of finished model surface. Using vinylester and polyester tooling resin, aditional fiber glass layers are placed above gelcoat layer. Number of composite layers is determened by surface area of model. Aditional metal counstruction can be made to enshure mechanical stability of the mould.
